An isolation facility for potential COVID-19 patients is now open at the Filipino Association of PNG (FAPNG) clubhouse in Port Moresby. The facility of 50 rooms was opened by Foreign Affairs Minister Patrick Pruaitch, witnessed by Philippines Ambassador Bienvenido Tejano and members of the Filipino community in Port Moresby.

According to Mr. Tejano, the facility (costing about K90,000) would be managed by medical and security personnel from FAPNG and was open to anyone in the event of an outbreak of COVID-19. «The Filipino community in PNG have contributed their resources to show our support to the Government in this fight against COVID-19», said Mr. Tejano. Papua New Guinea Foreign Affairs Minister Patrick Pruaitch said that he was pleased to see that the Filipino community contribute their resources to assist the PNG Government.

The Taiwanese Office has presented 10,000 surgical face masks to the Health Department, which the Health Minister Jelta Wong says is a real need for the country’s frontline workers. Taiwan Rep. Ken Hu said it was a pleasure to present surgical masks manufactured in Taiwan, a country which has been highly commended for its response towards COVID-19.
