Sir Michael Somare. Papua New Guinea press review

The first Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Sir Michael Somare, PNG’s ‘father of the nation’ addressed the country’s citizens on his 84th birthday. Sir Michael Somare has called all Papua New Guineans to give their utmost attention to their parents and grandparents this time of the world pandemic, and also called on people who are vulnerable to carefully monitor their health.
According to PNG’s ‘father of the nation’, he quietly celebrating his birthday at home only, including practicing social distancing and safe hygiene.
“I’m also thinking of the people of East New Britain who reported the first local COVID-19 case. I was born and raised in the ENB and I know the good loving people and law-abiding citizens will unite together with their leaders to isolate the single case,” – said Sir Michael Somare.
